About Us
Engineered Athletics and Fitness is a high performance sports and fitness company offering something for everyone including corporate wellness solutions, personalized training and nutrition, and sport coaching. We take pride in the fact that we educate our clients. We give them the tools to live healthy and active lifestyles.
Our services are different from the services offered by health clubs or personal trainers because its philosophy and programs are based on a strong scientific foundation and are built to provide clients with optimal training and education programs to meet their goals.
At Engineered Athletics and Fitness we offer services and custom programs for everyone at every fitness level, including assessments and monitoring, consultations and education, coaching and training, as well as nutritional and diet analysis and advice.
We are dedicated to providing innovative fitness testing and training services for weight management clients to endurance athletes. For improved results, we educate our clients to stop focusing solely on calorie burn, and start thinking about improving such fitness values as VO2 Max, or maximum oxygen uptake.
The Studio Crew
Nick Tonkin
Nick has a broad athletic and academic background, bringing a refreshingly new approach to athletic testing and development. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University as well as an American Fitness Professionals and Associates (AFPA) certification. Currently Nick is pursuing a Master’s degree in exercise physiology from Wayne State University.
Nick is a board member of the Training and Research Institute of Athletic Development (T.R.I.A.D.) National research committee, which is responsible for selecting or creating national research protocols as well as selection of testing equipment or methods of data collection on athletes.
His athletic background consists of playing collegiate football at a NAIA Division II school and 3 years of competitive bodybuilding with the NANBF and NPC.
Kirk Dashevich (Head Trainer)
Kirk received a diploma from the National Personal Training Institute (N.P.T.I.) where he finished top of his class. He creates re-energizing workouts specially tailored for each client.
Mike O’Leary
Mike received a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology from University of Michigan. He also holds a personal training certification from the International Sports Sciences Association. He is a fireman and paramedic with advanced cardiac life support (ACSL).
Natalie Hallowell
Natalie is living proof of what exercise and healthy eating can do for you. She has lost over 100 lbs in recent years. After her transformation she wanted to help others experience the same and enrolled at the National Personal Training Institute. She graduated from N.P.T.I. last year and is also our resident core training expert.
Shivani Sharma
Shivani received a bachelor’s degree in Home Science, has done Post Graduation in Dietetics & Public Health Nutrition from Delhi University in India and has a post-bachelor’s certificate in dietetics from Wayne State University.
She is an active member of the American Dietetic Association and a registered dietician. Working with adolescents and adult patients with weight management and meal planning, endurance athletes for sport performance and diabetic patients, Shivani is a valuable part of our nutrition program.
Christine Hottle
Christine received her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Wayne State University graduating with the honor of Magna Cum Laude. Currently she works at Botsford Hospital as a clinical dietitian where she administers nutritional care for patients from intensive care to rehabilitation, along with providing nutrition counseling for a variety of chronic diseases and weight management.
She is a registered dietitian and a member of the American Dietetic Association. In 2003 Christine received an award for the explanation and development of an individualized nutrition plan for Crohn’s disease. She has been instrumental in the development of our nutrition program.

Deb Foy
Deb received a fitness certification from the American Council of Exercise and has participated in many physical events including the MS 150 Bicycle ride, the Columbus Marathon, Dublin Ireland marathon-Team in training, Chicago Triathlon-Team in training and the Boston Marathon.
Samantha Mozdzierz
Samantha earned a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics with a minor in Food Service Administration from Central Michigan University. She has worked for the Port Huron Hospital system as a clinical dietitian and developed and taught clients the correct way to eat to achieve the human body's potential.
Also, she has played a vital role in people's recovery by providing the proper nutrition for individuals in the Intensive Care Unit and the Cardiac Step-Down unit. Samantha works with clients to achieve desired weight lose goals and is an excellent addition to our network serving as one of our nutrition experts.
Brad Kegebein
Brad earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Eastern Michigan University. While attending Eastern Michigan, Brad was a member of the football team. Brad holds a certification from the American Council of Exercise. In addition to working with Engineered Athletics and Fitness, Brad also works with a leading physical therapy and sports performance clinic as an exercise specialist.
Dawn Yoakum
Dawn has earned many accomplishments in the field. She has attained a Bachelor’s of Kinesiology from the University of Michigan, a CSCS (NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist), ACE Personal Trainer, ACE Group Fitness Instructor, Pilates Mat Specialist and Advanced Sports Nutrition Specialist.
